Watanabe Mayu has a smile that will make you want to smile. If it was anyone else playing the lead, I don't think this would be as entertaining as it is.
The focus of the drama captured the need to reach for a dream and it did exactly that. The drama stuck to one plot with not too many ideas, and did not veer. Also, the balance between school life and idol life and how they mixed together was good. I did not feel the need to skip over, for example, when she went to school.
As for the music, I have listened to many of AKB48's songs and this one is pretty catchy and fit well with the drama. But in the perspective of a single singer, the song lacks "uniqueness".
Overall, this drama is a quick watch that can be marathoned, and it is not a total waste of time. I would rate it a 7/10.
