ʜɪꜱᴛᴏʀʏ: My introduction to Asian dramas was back in 2017 when Netflix recommended a Korean drama known as My Only Love Song to me. Since then, I've been a self-proclaimed drama addict who has no intention of seeking professional help. *insert clown emoji*
ᴘʀᴇꜰᴇʀᴇɴᴄᴇꜱ: I mostly watch K/C-dramas and don't typically stray outside these countries. However, I will occasionally indulge in a J-drama, Twdrama, or Lakorn if the mood hits. As for the genres I prefer, I tend to gravitate towards romance, historical, fantasy, action, melo, and slice-of-life (Big emphasis on historical. Costume dramas are my jam!).
ʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ ꜱʏꜱᴛᴇᴍ: I don't have a rating system in place because I'm honestly too lazy and usually just "get a feel" for what a drama deserves, star-wise. Anything below an 8 failed in wowing me and higher than (we're talking 9-10) was a banger.
ʟɪᴋᴇꜱ: I love character-driven stories the most, so I look for nuanced, multidimensional characters who can carry their own in a story and not be dead weight to the surrounding characters and narrative. Although, I am guilty of watching trashy dramas with abhorrent, headache-inducing characters that have the depth of a kiddie pool on more than one occasion. My eyeballs may be sore from the number of times I've rolled them but at least I get my serotonin fix. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But for the most part, I think I stick to smart dramas that fall under the above criteria. Because typically, if I don't vibe with the characters, I don't vibe with the drama as a whole. I'll admit, big budget productions with extravagant set-deigns, stunning costumes, and A-lister actors are great, but they're not necessary for me to enjoy a story. As long as the characters grab me, I'm a happy and content drama-goer.
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ ꜱᴜᴘʀᴇᴍᴀᴄʏ: I've found over the years that anti-heroes and antagonists ruffle my truffles more so than hero types. The reason is that heroes these days are written for moral propaganda and are about as interesting/thrilling as filing one's yearly taxes, while the villains give me everything in terms of complexity, depth, and excitement. Plus, they can take a whumping and make it look aesthetically pleasing to boot. I also enjoy dark, twisted, downright toxic dynamics between characters for the emotional heft and, well, the spice. I like what I like in my fictional media. what can I say other than you can take the girl out of the gutter, but you can't take the gutter out of the girl. ;)
ᴅɪꜱʟɪᴋᴇꜱ: I consider myself to be a lenient watcher but there are certain story narratives/archetypes that have me eye-rolling myself into another dimension and these are (A) female leads that are marketed as strong and capable when in reality, they're obnoxiously loud, insulting to a ridiculous degree, and about as sharp as a marble. (B) On-screen pairings that have all the ardor and rapport of cardboard cutouts and (C) Male leads who have all the complexity and nuance of a straight ruler. These just don't spark joy in my niche trove. Simple as THAT.
ᴛʀᴏᴘᴇꜱ: I'm trope trash which is why tropes such as enemies-to-lovers, star-crossed lovers, cold man/warm woman, arranged marriage/contract relationships, forced cohabitation, older man/younger woman (within legal bounds, that is), and hurt/comfort are almost guaranteed to catch my interest with a quickness.
ᴅʀᴏᴘᴘɪɴɢ ᴘᴏʟɪᴄʏ: I'm a pro-dropper, which means if I'm not vibing with a story or invested in the characters, into the Dumpster Fire it goes. I feel zero no guilt in doing so, either. There are too many quality dramas to be hung up on a few mediocre ones.

ғʀɪᴇɴᴅ ʀᴇǫᴜᴇsᴛs: I don't accept random friend requests, especially from profiles that have been recently created and are without a profile picture. That doesn't mean I'm opposed to creating friends on this platform. I just ask that we get to know a bit more about each other before we make it official and become mutuals. The best ways to do this are interacting with me on the feeds (I'm pretty active on there) or sending me a message via DM.
