somewhat disappointing
The main problem with Over Drive was it had too much going on and too little time to cover all these areas and so it comes out mediocre. Backstories, storyline, characters development, character explorations are all not met because within just less than two hours, it was difficult to give all these aspects their equal share of screen times. I think I would've liked the movie better if it was made into an actual drama since it had a lot of potential and about the right amount of materials to. But it falls short. Side characters are not dived into well enough that they come off almost irrelevant or having no point in being in the story (especially Endo and Masuda). There's hints of romance but there's no chemistry and the relationship growth is not realistic or explored enough so it kind of just makes you feel nothing. I could tell that the story was rushed and so was everything else. Quite disappointing because it had such a promising casts.
