started strong but it went downhill with determination
I only finished the show, because I was looking forward to a "3-years-later-happily-ever-after"-scene for Kao and Phu, but as the season progressed even the happy-bunny couldn't save this show...
Both the main couple, as well as Kao/Phu and the doctors started out strong, but the "mysteries" surrounding Solo and Phu were - simply speaking - lacking. (I won't speak about the whole Khi(/e)m-Doctor fiasco, I refuse).
It may have been the subtitles translations, but non of the "obstacles" the couples faced seemed anything but childish exaggerations.
(Also if you wanna run away with your lover get some cash before daddies freezes your bank account. Seriously, that's running-away-101... And don't let your boyfriend make decisions (or drive a vehicle) if he hadn't had barely anything to eat for "weeks"! That's just asking for running-away-without-a-plan-destination-or-money-and-turning-around-before-you-eve-left-the-city and a fainting-behind-the-wheel-accident).
The apostrophes around weeks are there, because there is no feeling of time in the series. The plot could have developed over a couple of weeks or months. No idea.
In addition to the subpar plot the acting (except maybe Kao, Khim, Khem and sometimes Phu) is rather stiff and dull. But to be fair to the actors: it is hard to flesh out characters emotionally if the plot glosses over any scenes that could show characterization or character growth.
All in all: I have seen worse, but this show could have benefitted from something called storytelling.
Also please, for the love of everything holy, abandon the old "boys-don't-cry" and
"emotionally-distant-father-only-means-well-with-the-abuse-we-promise-he-meant-well" clichés. They are getting old.
