They should have kept this series short if they can't justify those 20+ episodes. No wonder Blood was a disaster. Park Jaebum has an eye for writing interesting concepts but the overall execution of it? Fails to meet expectations.
The acting, from Joo Won's permanently hunched back and fidgeting fingers to Moon Chae Won's drunken antics, are really beyond what this drama deserves. The only thing that kept this series together was the cast.
Music isn't memorable enough to comment on so I'll give it a random three for effort.
Rewatched value? What indeed. Except for Si On's hilarious trivia and dialouge, there wasn't much I would want to see again.
Overall, it was a nice distraction to my boring internet free day.

A procedural drama with a Kaiju Flavor
From the production, story, acting, visual FX and OST; it's a very well crafted procedural drama with a Kaiju flavor.Especially love how they breathed life to the titular Ultraman, making Blazar an immediate standout and utterly charming character in his own right.
SKaRD is a small team that's been tasked with the impossible and I love how they put their skills and resources to achieve miracles.
It's very fun to look back on episodes and recontextualize it, making it's rewatch value very high.

And unlike what the initial episodes led me to believe, it was fun. It bothered me that they immediately cut off and resolved Enrique's issues with his so called first love from the get go,among other questionable things. Can't exactly compare it to the webtoon since I haven't read it but it felt rushed in some parts despite the enjoyable cast. I really wished Watanabe-san had more screentime though.
The romance is lighthearted for the lack of better word. The way Go Dok Mi (Park Shin hye) made faces that broadcasted her thoughts to Enrique Geum is hilarious. All in all, I love Yoon Shi Yoon's portrayal of the childish but lovable Enrique Geum who offends people on a daily basis and Park Shin hye for making me focus on the social recluse Dok Mi instead of her real life image. The supporting cast, from the overworked and sleep deprived editor to the apartment's security guard, also helped a lot in the decision to not drop this.
The music is fun, I especially love Romantic Punch's Ready Merry Go! since it suited the drama's overall atmosphere. Special mention to Lee Jung's Wish It Was You.
Rewatched value? For Enrique Geum, maybe a five. I just love this forever smiling self proclaimed genius.
Overall, Flower Boy Next Door is exactly what it says on the tin. Though unlike its predecessors, I prefer this particular Flower Boy drama the most.

But despite my grumbling and complaints, I finished it. And ohh boy, it might be a misplaced melodrama disguised as a romcom yet I was fascinated. I think the fact that it was outright discussing the topic of depression and mental disorders that made me want to stay. Because South Korea doesnt seem to acknowledge it, being a country with an astonishing high rate of suicide victims. Kudos to the writer.
I can see why Mr.Arrogant (Kim Jaewon) picked this up, Seo Jae hee is definitely a role that will suit him. It's unfortunate that he experienced a serious accident and was unable to continue.
Yoon shi yoon, despite being the replacement actor, certainly pulled off the arrogant swagger well enough. Acting out Flat Out Broke characters seems to be his specialty so the other character's reaction towards his unexpected wealth are believable. Seo Jae Hee is a different kind of jerk from the cheerful Enrique and the innocent Tak Goo, so I was able to gradually distinguish them once the character's back story was cemented.
The characters' friction from the get go truly made me wonder why they didn't make this into a melodrama. They all get into each other's nerves.
The music have some good ones like B2ST's Dreaming that is quite the sexy backing track for Seo Jae hee and that song that plays whenever something happens that made Officer Cha sad and hurt.
Rewatched value? Do I want to feel this frustration again? Who knows. It's 50/50.
Overall, my opinion still stands. They're not flowers but weeds! If you're looking for a feel good romcom drama, turn back and watch Yoon Shi Yoon's other drama Flower Boy Next Door instead.
