This one's wild.
This ain't your normal kdrama. First off it's very explicit. I don't think I've seen one deal with sex this bluntly.Basically they try to put the "spark" back in their marriage while blackmailing people having affairs. As the stakes increase so do the consequences. Things take a twist in the final episodes. If you're looking for something a little weird, slightly endearing and definitely out of the ordinary give it a try.

Pleasantly surprised.
Based on it's summary and premise I was expecting a lightweight comedy full of tropes. But this series has a surprising amount of depth. It's not your typical romcom that we've all seen 30 times before. There are some twists. There's also a lot of discussion about the difficulties in relationships, which ones are surmountable, and which ones aren't. It treats the characters like grown-ups.Was this review helpful to you?
Watching this drama was an experience.
This one's a bit hard to summarize. It definitely qualifies as a slow burner. It's very immersive. Two main stories unfold: the love story, and the hidden family secrets story. Some side stories work; others are annoying. The love story works and the family secrets storyline is absolutely gripping. The acting is superb. Watching the primary cast play off each other was immensely satisfying. And it's all set in this moody, introspective winter environment with an ambient score. There are layers, revelations, poetry and philosophy, all metered out at a satisfying pace. I didn't watch it as much as let it wash over me.

Pretty good.
Once you get past the first episode things get going. What I liked about it: it's short on tropes. These aren't perfect characters that are the same from beginning to end, always show up at the right time, and always know the dashing and cool thing to say. They are flawed, hesitant, take one step forward then two steps back. They don't have it all figured out, even by the end. They're just trying to get through life, love and heartache like the rest of us.Don't worry though, it's a still very much a kdrama, with the stuff we all love to see when we watch them.

Mixed feelings about this one.
It's not a light and airy kdrama. One bad thing happens after another. Even the "good" people aren't exactly saints. Some actions seem inexplicable at first because they aren't explained until later. But the acting is superb and ML and FL are great together. The ending didn't go in the direction I was expecting but it was still satisfying. It does have a few tropes you see in all kdramas but it's not over the top. And it's only 12 episodes so there's not a lot of filler. It's worth a watch. Was this review helpful to you?
Loved it for the most part.
The interaction between the female leads was great. The side characters were entertaining. The series is pretty streamlined. The main (required) love story felt like forced filler but didn't distract from the story or halt the drama in it's tracks or anything. Worth a watch. I watched it mainly for Hani but was pleasantly surprised. Was this review helpful to you?
Dark, depressing and predictable.
Can't say I enjoyed this one. You can tell what's going to happen pretty quickly. Most of the characters do the same stuff in each episode. Rowoon is the usual perfect dashing male with no flaws, no growth and no character development. He's the same from beginning to end. The rest is just 16 episodes of waiting for Yoon Song Ah to give in. Few of the other characters change or grow (with one very notable exception). One side story is unconvincing, another is pretty depressing. Without giving away spoilers I could tell how everything was going to end pretty quickly and had to force myself to finish watching just for completion. This would have been better suited as a movie IMO.

Lost interest
[Updated] Wanted to like this one but lost interest halfway through. The reasons:1) The acting's great, the leads are good together and the mom group is interesting, but
2) The side stories are forced and formulaic filler with zero character development
3) There's a bit of over-acting
4) Too many annoying flashbacks
5) Typical character setup: overbearing mom/pliant dad; ML is sure, successful and has annoying assistant/FL is lost, searching and has bubbly side friend
6) Typical kdrama plot habit: they start off light, airy and funny and then halfway through the "dark and tragic past" backstory kicks in and they get all dark and depressing
7) [Update] Gave it another couple episodes and saw yet another annoying trope: hiding their relationship from everyone for no justifiable reason.
I was forcing myself to watch by episode nine and once I hit that point it's just work and not a fun watch. YMMV.

Worth it.
Guess I'm in the minority based on other reviews but I loved it. Yes, it's yet another chaebol story, but it's a really good one. Tight script, great acting (with one exception), satisfying plot twists. It's shot really well, great background music, and the true nature of these characters will keep you guessing. There's a decent amount of depth and "who's really behind what" is hard to guess ahead of time. And it's only seven episodes so it's very streamlined. It's a great weekend binge. Was this review helpful to you?
