A rare comedy with no villains and misunderstandings.

This drama is very refreshing to watch. Critics aside, this an extremely rare NO VILLAINS and NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS drama. Almost all historical shows (wuxia and xianxia) have very heavy political plots and focus on hardships of the couple. But this one is just light and peak comedy.

I loved the FL so much omg. She stood up for herself yet was kind for the needy. She also never misunderstood the ML so their "fights" never lasted for a long time. Also, I never ponce though she was ugly because she has the type of smile that can immediately melt anyone.

And of course, Li Hong Yi looks hot as ever. That man is just really handsome. I was skeptical about his character first, but he showed more depth over the course and that was really refreshing.

Liu Scorpio and his wife are just one of a kind. I'll leave it at that. chemistry but

I see a lot of people complaining about the lack of chemistry but I disagree. Yes there aren't many intimate scenes but I think their little things and habits show love in a unique way.

Overall do not be swayed by the negative reviews. Watch it for comedy at the very least. This one also has some great OSTs as a plus. Really loved it!

What is evil?

I knew about untamed since 2019 but I never thought of watching it because I do not like blood and violence and I have never watched BL. I love Xiao Zhan to bones but I gotta say, I love Wei Wu Xian more. This is not just a story of 2 adventurers. It is a story of personality development and understanding the good and bad in people. Every dialougue in the show felt carefully crafted and the music and intense sounds resonated at the right moments to capture your heart.

Because of his character and personality, I could never imagine Wei Wu Xian with any woman. He is an untamed hero, unafraid of death for his loved ones, and most importantly someone who cannot be tied down by anyone. Even with a couple of female characters in the show, I could never ship him with anyone as he belonged solely to the audience. I could be wrong here, but their chemistry was more one-sided with Lan Zhan being more in love with Wei Wu Xian. There are no kiss or hug scenes between them and all of the acting is done through their eyes which is impressive. Thus, even if you are not a BL person, this show will be very entertaining. I watched Oath of Love before this so I got used to seeing XZ very straight but I still enjoyed seeing him with Wang Yi Bo.

Loving someone is never easy yet always fruitful

What is love? What is evil (kinda like Untamed)? these were the 2 major themes in the show

First of all, it is a very modern xianxia and obviously I see that the writers have learned from the mistakes of past xianxia. I loved how there were NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS between the main leads as they just shouted everything out at each other or somehow figured it out lol. I also like how sufferings and sacrifices were not just made my the male lead (like Xu Feng in AOL and Si Feng in LAR), and instead our leads were connected to feel each other's pain and joy.

I also LOVED THE OSTs!! The opening song made me cry every time it was played and of course we had a song from Liu Yuning. Literally every drama with a Liu Yuning OST is my favorite (Long Ballad, LAR, You are my Glory, Who rules the world...).

Finally though, I have to admit the ending felt a bit rushed. I am not a huge fan of SUPER long xianxia shows (like AOL seriously did not need 63 episodes) but 36 episodes were not enough for the ending story. The pacing till later episodes was great, really pleasing, but I honestly feel like the evil spirit thing in the end was unnecessary. (PS: I kept mixing up hellfire with glass from Ashes of love and hellfire later became glazed fire which is glass fire which also is samadhi fire ??)

Overall, I really really enjoyed watching this. I love Esther from Moonlight and of course Dylan from F4.

Not as bad as the reviews

Honestly this drama was not as bad as the review. Now there were a few parts where I was like omg please stop this but if you stick through, it is not disappointing. Well AARON YAN WAS AMAZING!! This drama is NOT a rom-com it is more melodrama so acting was crucial and our ML really did an amazing job.

I felt a bit sketchy about the actress but her character was not dumb or stupid or anything like that.

It did get really soapy in the middle: The marriage to SFL was honestly so unnecessary. I feel like they should just let him be engaged to her cause till that point it was really touching to see the main couple understand each other. When he got married though... the chemistry never really came back unfortunately.

But I swear Lu Tian Xing was so hot and so smart and just high EQ man. I loved him sm.

Also Aaron Yan sang all the OSTs and all of them were really amazing <3

Conclusion, do not care about reviews and just give it a try. Aaron never disappoints in my opinion.

Watch it for Marcus Chang and amazing OSTs

I am gonna say right up, I came here after Lost Romance for Marcus Chang. The FL is really dumb at times but its not bad acting its just the character. I guess if you sympathies with people easily you will understand hwr better than me. But oh by Marcus is sizzling in every episode. His character, Zhao Yuting, is probably my most favorite of all others.

Also AMZING OSTs ALERT. This was the first C/T show i watxued without skipping intro even once. Rather rewatched lol.

Revenge romance is common trope but just like contract marriages we can never get enough of it.

Lastly, Marcus please make a new drama!! He is really picky lol.

Loved it!

I just finished watching this and I am writing this review with tears in my eyes. Not because it was a sad ending because I was so so attached to it. Honestly, I started this drama the day before my math test just for a break but here I am after finishing after 3 days. I have countless C and K dramas but I swear I have never seen anything like this.

The chemistry, plot, visuals, and oh my gosh the OSTs, everything is just mind blowing. I promise no one would regret watching this show. Also where did they find so many hot boys?? Every side male character is crazy handsome.

OK now diving in the details, lets start from the FL Mu WanQing. She is so freaking smart, elegant and crazy beautiful. MWQ always figured out the Male leads every scheme and it was so satisfying to watch them scheme and act evil together. And about the ML, Tan Xuelin, he is basically a freaking genius. Not the typical High IQ low EQ though, he is a very thoughtful leader, brother, husband and commander. He is funny and playful even in the toughest situations. It was honestly so intense watching him have breakdowns cause of his superb acting. All actors including the Second lead deserve great things.

This drama was also a learning experience for me. I did not know anything about the 1920's China and how chaotic it was. After the Qing Dynasty's imperial rule ended, individual warlords fought for wealth and power while the revolutionist communist army tried to gain control. Countless wars and politics was playing. In this chaos, I loved the main leads efforts to protect each other at all costs. In a sentence, the girl has money, boy has military power, and they both have the brains to plot plots together.

Some parts of this drama remind me of DOTS. The OSTs are addictive and the romance is entangles with action. Also the fashion was so freaking on point.

Speaking of that, Tan Xuelin is so freaking handsome. His uniform is whole another level of beauty but his suits and leather coats with that hairstyle and smirk! Don't ask how many screenshots I took. That one blue coat he has is my favorite. He looks so ugh in that.

Wholesome, no misunderstandings drama

Ryan Ding deserves an award for this. He was able to pull off the childish and rude caharcter of a famous writer while making us relate to his emotions. The FL voice was annoying sometimes but it is her batural voice, no dubbing. I also really like how mature she was and how the couple handles all hardships together. Most poeple do not understand the importance of editors in the literature world, and this drama gives a great inspiration for people seeking suchvlesses known careers. In short this drama is like a combination of Full House, Romance is a bonus book, and Love 020. If you liked any of these, definitely watch this!!! If you know "the moon is beautiful tonight" you will love this drama for sure ??❤.
