Casting made the whole show.
Kim Hee Sun is a genius, Rowoon is the only male actor today that could portray this character and Su Hyuk has the best arresting face. Casting was absolutely the thing that this show the success it is, along with some pretty damn good storytelling. And I dare to say that this is and will still be one of the best portrayed sexual tension in tv history. Also, the ending Hee Sun and Su Hyuk characters' had was like getting hit by a Mack truck. Did not see that coming. Ever. This one deserved, at least, another 10 episodes. Was this review helpful to you?
Good, but it took a while
My first experience with Ji Hyun was watching Legend of the Sea and this was sent first dram with Soo Hyun. With that being said, I don't think I liked Ji Hyun better here and I don't think all the seriousness from his character suited Soo Hyun. The story in itself was good and it had a lot of potential, but the series got stuck in a few episodes where things should've progressed a little faster from the side plots and the main storyline would've followed, but too much was left for the last four, three episodes and it became rushed and a little too hard to explain to the audience who, I imagine, was expecting a whole lot more.

When chemistry makes the show
Amazing chemistry between the two leads, the story has its flaws, but I think this is the best drama with Shin Min-a. Better than Hometown Cha Cha Cha.The pacing of the the story was very good also, since they didn't gives us the things we obviously wanted from the start: seeing Ju Eun slimming down and their romance blooming. And that was another thing that caught my attention: the pace of the romance. So many dramas leave it until the last three episodes or they end up together right away and then there's a bunch of bull just to fill up the story. Here it was perfect.

Good, but...
Okay, so. How can I put this gently? The series started great, the characters were presented and you immediately knew what you had to cheer for, right? But then the curse of a couple getting together anytime before the middle of the seriesn comes true and it all goes downhill. What helped me the most here was the fact that I am a huge Son Ye Jin fan and Mr. Jung Hae absolutely delivers. Chemistry and acting were very good, but what messed it up for me was the mom, seriously. That arc and eventually the whole family storyline was beaten into us until an inch of its life. It got tiring. And then, for the last episode, we get a resolution on the last five minutes. Felt rushed and sloppy. This may seem like a bad review, but don't get me wrong: the series is really, really good and captivating. It's not perfect or anything, but very worth the watch at least so you could get to watch the main couples faces.

Don't let theses reviews sway you.
I don't usually write reviews, but this series has been dumped on enough. Everybody agrees that the story was compelling, characters were as well, chemistry is off the charts and the flow was great. But then people strat talking about the last 30 minutes of this drama, and I have to say that I have yet to see so many opinions about the same exact thing. So here I am thinking: "Oh, well. Another one that bites the dust." The last 30 minutes are not bad or horrible and, if you got why they were how they were, they should compliment the whole plot. When people don't have to carry the World on their shoulders or have to worry about how to act around each other, they do tend to get annoyed by the little things, specially couples. It was not toxic, it was silly and supposed to make you laugh.
Do not give up on a wonderful drama because of this. Do it like I did and watched until the end, make up your mind about and be very happy that you did.

Another Bo Young win.
I don't think I have ever watched something with Park Bo Young that I didn't like. The beginning of this drama was a little rushed, but thing got explained through the episodes. Villains were okay, but the one that remained and the one that didn't had their endings badly chosen. The one sticking point sometimes was actually Anh Hyo Seop, not because of his acting but something about him didn't really fully click with his the way he was portraying his character. Secondary characters were pretty good too and I liked how Go Seyeon's father didn't take the whole situation at face value. It added some realism to it.Was this review helpful to you?
Watch it for the villain and all the feels.
A lot of plot twists that keeps you at the edge of your seat. With a cast that consists of one of the best villains I have ever seen in a k-drama, a male protagonist that hits you in all the right spots, a female protagonist that is naïve and clueless just the right amount and a supporting cast that just brings it all around.Kudos for the production and visual effects team that made this full of fun car chases, explosions and all around bad-assery in high quality. The OST gave it the romance feel that sometimes you just felt you needed, which brings me to another really good point, which is the very good balance between all of the punches and politics and estrategies with the much needed romance. The protagonist's chemistry was to die for, but this one has some excellent writing and you will find yourself getting teary by the fact that the villain didn't get her way. Haha.

All of the accolades.
This show, its cast, crew and everything about it deserves all of the amazing things every single person is thinking when they've finished it. I started to watch this because I had just finished Moving and simply fell in love with In Sung. Oh, maybe I should thank Disney for introducing me to the best drama I have ever watched. The writing, the plot, the taboo themes that are talked about here, it all makes for a very, very, very special experience.Zo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin portray their characters with such ease and depth that you can not help but be immersed in the story. Supporting cast: GENIOUS. I went into this without any expectations whatsoever and it paid off in a way I can't explain. There's the me before this and the one after.

Fan service, in part
If I had watched this before watching Goblin, maybe my opinion about it would've been different. But, as life would have it, I watched after and then this became almost like a very long epilogue for these two. Lee Dong Wook makes my hurt skip a beat, while his counterpart makes me a little annoyed. I don't know if it's the voice or her character here, but she annoyed me at times. Story was ok and the secondary characters were very entertaining. Something's felt a little bit rushed, which is not something I have felt while watching kdramas, but here it was.Was this review helpful to you?
